In the shadow of a new giant ...

I start this blog about an hour after President-elect Obama's victory speech. I start this blog because of President-elect Obama's victory.

I feel alone. I live in New York, now controlled by the Democratics, in the United States, now controlled by the Democrats and I, my red self, sit in front of my computer feeling tapped out.

Other than wishing President-elect Obama the best, I take a deep breath and I wait. I fear for the courts but I hope (the word of the moment along with change) for the best.

I've heard a lot about devisive politics and how bad it is. I disagree to the extent that it is necessary to distinguish yourself, your party and your beliefs from others. I'll not do that here but I will provide this link to a comment from RedState.com. It is the first thing I've read that I could look at tonight and nod my head to (outside of things said by Mark Levin).

If anything is taken from this, remember the Republicans ran a moderate in 2008 and lost. Moderate Republicans all across the country lost their congressional seats. The party will have to re-evaluate itself. But I will gaurantee tonight, in the wake of the Obama victory that you will not see a moderate Republican nominee in 2012. The nominee will moderate to the center but they will start from the right.
